Our design philosophy is simple: good design makes you happy. Happy Home Design specializes in small spaces, but regardless of the size of your home, your budget, or design style, your home should be your happy place. Before moving to Nanaimo BC in 2022, we have lived in apartments and townhouses in Vancouver for thirty years, so small space living was a way of life for us. We service Central Vancouver Island as well as metro Vancouver area. And with our fixed fee design services, it's easy to create your happy home.

We are a husband and wife team and we have been designing happy homes for families who live in metro Vancouver since 2007. Our clients consist of young working individuals, busy families with kids, and seniors who are looking to downsize. We were named one of the 30 best interior design companies in Vancouver for our specialty in small space design.

We work with you in 3 stages. Stage 1 is our initial design consultation, where we come to your home with personalized design tips and advice. Stage 2 is where we create your complete design to help you visualize your new space (design concept, mood board, floor plans, and 3-D renderings). And stage 3 is where we help you with making purchases and coordinating with our sub trades to implement the design.

stage one:
initial design consultation
Our initial consultation gives you access to our island designers for up to 2 hours to give you clarity and direction to create that beautiful home you've always wanted. It's comprehensive enough to be a stand-alone session for some homeowners. It's a great way to kick start any decorating or renovation project that you have been planning for your home.

stage two:
design service
If the design consultation leaves you wanting more, then the next step is to proceed to our fixed rate design service. We will give you a complete design for the room, complete with space planning, a floor plan, a mood board, and our most popular feature, 3-D design, to help you visualize the room. Two revisions are included in the design service package.
stage three:
implementation service
Stage three is where we will execute and bring the design to life. We begin to source out each furniture item, wall art, lighting, accessories, and so forth, and store them in our warehouse until installation day. We'll also order paints, wallpapers, and everything else and make arrangements for different trades or work with your trade people. We can also help you manage every aspect of the project so that it will be as little stress as possible.
